Memorial Herman Tower
The top six floors of the structure are designed to resemble a crown and allow the occupants an almost uninterrupted 360 degree view. The crown feature created a multitude of challenges for the structure as well as the glazing system that was used to skin these floors. The floor plates at each of these levels is successively smaller than the previous floor until you reach the roof level of the crown feature. The roof or upper most concrete slab was supported during the forming and pouring process using a two- story scaffold system cantilevered out from level 32. The cast-in-place concrete columns constructed to support the upper floors were designed and built at compound angles to achieve the desired look that the owner required. The structure of the crown feature is enclosed in a glass curtain wall system without a single piece of glass having a 90 degree corner. The glazing system allows for spectacular views from almost any point on the floors.
